Bits and Bobs - Miscellaneous Tips

Painting Caution

If you are spraying at home using 2pac for the first time be warned that it contains dangerous toxins including cyanide. Professionals use an outside air supply when spraying 2pac, you will need a very good mask and plenty of ventilation at a bare minimum. A thick moustach and beard does not qualify as a good mask 'T'.

Certing Tip

If you are building/modifying or have picked up a second hand frame, it might pay to get the frame checked in advance of the actual 'Low Volume' test. Ring your local cert guy and tell him what you are up to and that you intend to bring your bike in once completed but want him to have a quick look before you go any further. This way if there is something he doesnt like you can fix it and continue with the build rather than have to fail the Low Volume, strip your bike down, fix it, put it back together, clear the Low Volume test, strip it down for paint, you get the picture !

 Rear Wheel Suggestion

If your looking for a 16" spoked rear wheel and dont want to spend much money, keep an eye out for a Suzuki GN250 wheel. You can pick these up for around $50 complete and they will take a vintage tyre up to 5.5" wide.

Exhaust Wrap

Exhaust wrap is great stuff, it works well to save your clothes and legs from burns and is ideal to cover pipes that have rough chrome or ugly welds. You can usually grab some off Trademe otherwise it is available at Segedins Auto Spares here in Auckland on Dominion RD, open 7 days ph 09 6386439.

Headlight/Drivelight

Checkout the seller 'scooterparts' on Trademe for a decent priced headlight $45. They are Chinese made but the quality and design are good. Often its the Chinese chrome that is suspect but you can always powdercoat black if you have any trouble. You will need to fab your own mounts.
